I just love how online bullying is a serious problem when it affects Dave Karofsky but was just used as a joke when it involved Rachel Berry in the pilot of Glee.
This show makes women such second-class citizens and so dependent on their men that I often wonder if Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney aren’t on the writing staff.
^^^ Can someone please turn this shit off. Seriously, I am super tired of trying to find something sexiest, racist, whateverist about EVERY GOD DAMN THING. I am pretty sure Santana and Zizes didn’t give any shits about having a man around. Same with Sue. Can we please end this shit?
I’m talking about defending Rachel Berry - the main focal point of Glee. I don’t give two shits about Santana considering she did part of the bullying against Rachel. If you don’t like my opinion, fine. But post your own eloquent rant and don’t reblog mine.
Also stated in this episode, everyone has their own personal triggers. This is not the Rachel Berry show. This is Glee. It is about the lot of them as a whole and what they each bring to the table. We have so many characters and so many stories. I could spend 10 hours ranting about the fact that Tina, an Asian female, has little to no attention across the board compared to everyone else…or I could appreciate the fact that she is doing okay. She is a healthy, fun, quirky, normal girl with a life that is pedestrian enough to not need attention drawn to it.
There are subtle ways to reach a demographic and you can choose to point out negativity and trying to make excuses as to why you think that shit is wrong or sexist or bullshit but at the end of the day it is a TV show for entertainment, not an educational program. I don’t look to these characters as people my kids should try to become. Sure they can draw lessons but I would hope that I could be a decent enough parent to have a kid that is far more balanced that most tv and movie characters.
Please please please please shut the shit up with constant pointing fingers and blame and pressure and fuckery. Write a book, join a youth group, become a teacher, what ever the fuck you want to do to reach people and speak your voice about injustice on fictional shows but remember that critical thinking isn’t picking something apart to find all of the reasons to hate or talk mad shit.
